From October 26 to 29 of this year, the Jockey Plaza Exhibition Center in Lima became the epicenter of the textile and apparel industry with the exciting 16th edition of Expotextil Perú 2023. This international event, eagerly awaited by industry professionals and sustainability enthusiasts, was a marvel of connections. Among the exhibitors of this edition was Killa Vive Verde thanks to a valuable alliance with the NGO ASPEm Perú under its Textile Innovation Accelerator project.
The Expotextil Peru fair attracted a diverse and enthusiastic audience. From the country's most important trade unions, industry professionals and designers to micro and small businesses came together to discover the latest trends and technologies in the textile and clothing sector.
The fair became a place for exchanging knowledge and business opportunities. Students and teachers of textile design and related fields as well as entrepreneurs took advantage of the opportunity to learn from experts, explore the latest innovations and establish contacts in the industry.
One of the most exciting aspects of the fair was the growing interest in sustainable fashion. Killa Vive Verde, as a guest exhibitor, was one of the focal points in this regard. Killa's garments, made in an organic and innovative way, dyed with natural dyes and printed with natural plants and flowers, attracted those seeking fashion with a conscience.
Many of the visitors were impressed with the techniques used to make the Killa Vive Verde garments, as Milagros Dávalos, an agricultural engineer and Killa collaborator, points out: “ They were very interested in the technique itself; they did not believe that the plant itself was the one that left its mark on the garment, they thought it was a sublimation. The process was explained to each visitor, which was manual and artisanal. In addition, they were interested in printing, so many of the visitors signed up for the workshops, both teachers and students.”
Similarly, there were people interested in exporting and printing services for their different businesses. Thus, more and more people have become aware of the importance of sustainability in the textile industry and, consequently, they have sought out products and brands that share their values.
Thanks to the recent partnership established between Killa Vive Verde and the NGO ASPEm Perú, specifically with its Textile Innovation Accelerator project, Killa was able to secure its participation as an exhibitor at the Expotextil Perú fair. This strategic collaboration not only opened doors for Killa, but also allowed for a fruitful collaboration with the company Qaya Perú, also an ASPEm ally. Together, these entities shared their vision of sustainable fashion and demonstrated that innovation in the textile industry can lead to a more promising and ecological future.
In summary, Expotextil Perú 2023 was a successful event that brought together a diverse audience passionate about the textile and apparel sector and sustainability. Killa Vive Verde's participation and its partnership with ASPEm highlighted the growing importance of sustainable fashion in Peru and provided attendees with an inspiring and lasting insight into the textile industry and environmental awareness in the country.
